After a long waiting, the water is started from the pumping station built on a riverbed near Melur near the melur for the drinking water scheme for five departments in the areas of Tiroverumbur and Kattur.
The aim of the project is to supply 135 liters of drinking water per capita to Ward no. 61, 62, 63, 64 and 65 in Tiruverumbur, Kattur and the adjacent areas that were listed under the increase in Tiruchi Corporation in 2011. To complete the work as soon as possible, the company divided the project into three phases – construction of a gas station, construction of upper reservoirs and laying network and distribution lines. 63 Crore was sanctioned for the project.
Construction work started in 2017. Although the civic body completed most of the work in two phases in two years, it could not start with the gas station due to various problems. For many months in 2020, 2021 and 2022, the stable flow of water in Kaurevy prevented the construction of a gas station and the sinking of the collector well in the river wheels. After a long delay, the supplier, which acquired the phase I project, started construction work in February 2023 after the mettur dam was closed. However, the supplier could not complete this work in 2023 and 2024.
The work gathered after the mettur dam in February. The team of specially trained staff was involved in the construction of a petrol station, sinking a collector’s well and an erection of pumps and transformer.
According to sources, all work was completed. The gas station is designed to draw 27 billion water a day. The collector was sunk at a depth of 800 meters. Three sets of 150 horsepower were built.
The head official told Hindu that he was waiting for the power supply. Officials Tamil Nadu Power Distribution Corporation Ltd. (TNPDCL) checked this place. Since the petrol station required more than 200 HP, the main electrical inspector had to check the place to issue a safety certificate, which was compulsory. He was expected to visit at any time. As soon as he issued a security certificate, TNPDCL has provided power. All other works were completed, including involvement. The chances were clear for pumping water from the pumping station within 15 days.
