
On Thursday along the Cuddalore coast, under the auspices of the Ministry of Income and Disaster Management, exercises were performed on tsunami readiness.
The drive focused on the coast along the Sothikippam in the Cuddalore and Sinnur block in the Bhuvanagiri block in order to strengthen coordination and test the capabilities of the district administration and various other participants in the rapid distribution of warnings in likely affected areas.
According to an official press release, the drill provided the opportunity for various line departments to test their readiness and evacuate people during such eventuality. The drill included a simulation of the screenplay Tsunami Alert.
The administration pointed out various stakeholders through wireless and other means of communication. The line department helped the administration in the evacuation, search and rescue in affected coastal areas and moved the inhabitants to the shelters for help.
The participating department included police, fire and rescue services, health, electricity, animal breeding, fishing, national and state staff response to responses and first respondents.
