The Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) on Wednesday (December 31, 2025) conducted a salvo firing of the two original Pralay missiles from the same launcher. The Test took place off the coast of Odisha around 10:30 in the morning. Flight tests were performed as part of user evaluation trials.
According to the Ministry of Defence, both missiles followed the intended trajectory and met all mission objectives as confirmed by tracking sensors deployed at the Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur. Terminal events were verified using telemetry systems on ships located near designated impact points.
The Pralay is a solid-propellant quasi-ballistic missile equipped with state-of-the-art guidance and navigation systems to ensure high accuracy. The missile is capable of carrying several types of warheads to hit a wide range of targets.
The tests were witnessed by DRDO scientists, representatives of the Indian Army, Indian Air Force and industry partners.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated the DRDO, Indian Army, Indian Air Force, public sector undertakings and industry for the successful launch of the salvo, saying it proved the reliability of the Pralay missile system. Defense Ministry Research and Development Secretary and DRDO Chairman, Dr. Samir V. Kamat, also congratulated the participating teams and said that this achievement indicates the imminent readiness of the system for deployment in the armed forces.
