Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) Chairman and Ministry of Defense Secretary for Research and Development Samir V. Kamat said on Saturday (February 14, 2026) that the organization is working to enhance intellectual capital and scientific advancement through five newly established laboratories and 15 new DRDO centers working on underwater intelligence and space awareness.
After receiving an honorary doctorate at the SRM University-AP Special Convocation, the defense scientist encouraged young talents in universities to work on indigenous defense technology, strategic foresight and advanced scientific weapons that can position India as a global leader.
Union Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Arjun Ram Meghwal highlighted the transition of India’s industrial strength and development in the convocation address. He urged the graduates to “enhance their strengths, minimize their weaknesses, see opportunity and turn it into success.”
Founder Chancellor TR Paarivendhar, Pro-Chancellor P. Sathyanarayanan, Vice-Chancellor Ch. Satish Kumar, Secretary R. Premkumar and members of the Governing Body, Board of Trustees and Academic and Research Council were present.
