The Defense Research Research and Development Organization (Drdo) on Sunday (April 13, 2025) announced a successful court of MK-II (A) laser-focused energy weapon (Dew) “Mastering the technology of missile deactivation, drones and smaller projectiles”. Success gave India to the exclusive and limited club of nations, which has a high -performance laser system, Drdo said in his statement.
“The natives designed and developed by the MK-II (A) Dew system has been proven throughout its spectrum by involving the firm wing of drones for long reach, thwarting multiple drones and destroying enemy tracking sensors and antennas,” the statement said. “The lightning speed, accuracy and lethalites supplied in the finish in seconds made it the most effective drone system.”
The requirement for cost -effective defensive solutions that would compensate for low -cost drone attacks leads to the adoption of desing by military organizations around the world, Drdo said. “The cost of burning it for a few seconds is equivalent to the cost of a few liters of gasoline. Therefore, it has the potential to be a long -term and cheap alternative to defeat the target.”
Cut -off
Details of the functioning of the system, the statement stated as soon as it was detected by the radar or its built -in Electro Optic (EO) system, the laser length can connect the targets of light and use an intense laser beam to cut the target, leading to structural failure or more efficient results if the head is targeted. This type of top weapons has the potential of revolution in the battlefield by reducing relying on expensive ammunition while reducing the risk of collateral damage, Drdo said.
The court was carried out at the national extent in the open air, Kurnool in Andhra Pradesh. The system was developed by DrDO for high energy systems and sciences (chess), Hyderabad together with other laboratories, academic institutions and Indian industry.
DrDdo said that proliferations of unmanned air systems (UaS) and the emergence of drones, as asymmetric threats drive the demand for directed energy weapons and the abilities against tightening and efficiency, that Rosa will soon replace traditional kinetic weapons and missile defense.
