“Draft Reserve List for Surveys for Rural Local Authorities”

Rural Development and Raj Panchayat Minister Eshwar Khandre said on Monday that the state government is committed to holding elections to rural local bodies, saying that the draft reservation list for elections to grampanchayats, taluk panchayats and zilla panchayats is ready.

“We are ready to release the draft notification. Since the model code of conduct is in force for the Legislative Council elections, if the Election Commission gives permission, we will notify it. We have sought permission from the Commission,” Mr Khandre told reporters in Bidar.

He said the proposal would be finalized after hearing objections and suggestions after which an affidavit would be filed in the high court. “The proposal (for election) will be submitted to the State Election Commission,” he said.
