DPL: Former CSK player Vansh Bedi announces approach to ACU; DDCA informs BCCI

Young wicketkeeper-batsman Vansh Bedi, who played one T20 match for Delhi in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, allegedly encountered a “corrupt attitude” during the recent Delhi Premier League (DPL) and immediately reported the matter to the league’s anti-corruption department.

The 23-year-old spirited batsman, who also had a brief stint with IPL side Chennai Super Kings in 2025 before being replaced by Urvil Patel due to injury, was part of the Central Delhi squad during the 2026 edition of the DPL.

After Tehelka, in a sting, exposed little-known Nagaland pacer Rachit Bhatia who vehemently claimed to be fixing matches in the IPL and state leagues, including spot-fixing and accepting bribes from parents to get their children into age-group teams, Bedi was found to have been given a “corrupt approach” but was smart enough to follow anti-corruption protocols.

“There was only one corrupt approach in terms of match fixing which was reported to the ACU during the DPL. Central Delhi’s Vansh Bedi was approached by a fixer and immediately reported the matter to the ACU,” a DDCA office chief confirmed to PTI on condition of anonymity.

“The DDCA has also officially informed the BCCI and sought its advice. A complaint has been registered by Vansh Bedi, but there are no other official complaints registered with the ACU,” he added.

“We would not like anyone to go unpunished. Strictest action should be taken against anyone found guilty of trying to corrupt young players,” said DDCA Apex Council member and noted lawyer Shyam Sharma.

In its official statement released on ‘X’, the DDCA did not name anyone but admitted that it had taken cognizance of all the allegations.

“The Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) has taken cognizance of the recent reports regarding alleged irregularities involving certain players and franchises associated with the Delhi Premier League (DPL),” the DDCA said in a statement to ‘X’.

“DDCA would like to clarify that the allegations made in these reports are unverified and have not been established by any competent authority. The association believes that it would be inappropriate to draw conclusions about any individual, player or franchise based solely on such allegations,” it further said.

It was also confirmed that the association had written to the relevant authorities in this regard.

“Given the seriousness of the matter, the DDCA has written to the relevant authorities and shared the information it has come to know and requested that the matter be investigated through the relevant processes in place,” the DDCA said.

“The DDCA maintains a zero-tolerance approach towards any activity that may compromise the integrity of cricket and will extend its full cooperation to any investigation by the relevant authorities. Any action, if warranted, will be taken strictly in accordance with the findings of the relevant authorities and applicable rules and regulations,” he further said.

The DDCA also reiterated its belief that “it is important to distinguish between allegations and established facts and allow due process to take its course. The association remains committed to protecting the integrity, credibility and reputation of cricket in Delhi.”
