In a bid to get a head start on the winter air pollution situation in state capital Delhi, the government on Monday announced a complete ban on construction and demolition activities from December.

From November 1, Rekha Gupta’s government also doubled parking charges to discourage the use of private vehicles and announced telecommuting for 50% of the workforce.

Delhi’s air quality has started to deteriorate in recent days, with the AQI remaining in the moderate category amid dry weather and low wind speeds that have contributed to the build-up of pollutants.
