The Telangana LPG Distributors Association (TLDA) on Thursday said that the domestic pressure cylinders will not be available to the customers either at the outlets or showrooms of the distributors.
All refills will be delivered via the scheduled home delivery system only and in strict order of booking seniority. It is a non-negotiable policy and is being enforced with immediate effect to protect consumer rights, TLDA President K. Jagan Mohan Reddy said while announcing the decision.
“We want to assure every consumer that all bookings are strictly followed in the order in which they are received on a first-come, first-served basis. No booking will be ignored or missed. Your patience over the next few days will ensure that the cylinders reach every household fairly and without interruption,” he said in an appeal to LPG consumers in the state.
TLDA appeals to all consumers to remain calm, patient and cooperate with LPG distributors in view of the prevailing supply situation. There is no need to panic, domestic LPG supply is assured, he said, citing how the ongoing global LPG supply disruption caused by the conflict in West Asia has seen an unprecedented surge in refueling bookings – rising to 250% to 300% above normal bookings.
“This extraordinary increase in demand has significantly stretched delivery capacities, causing delivery times to increase from the usual 1-2 days to approximately 6-7 days from the date of reservation. We want to assure every consumer that all reservations are being honored…” the association said.
She said that the TLDA is looking seriously at incidents at various places across the state in recent times, ranging from consumers congregating in large numbers at the distributor’s premises to disputes creating law and order situations; violent attempts to remove pressure cylinders from cellars and distributors’ premises, as well as threats, manipulation and obstruction of LPG delivery personnel during home deliveries.
The association condemns such behavior. These actions not only threaten the safety of our employees, but also disrupt the delivery mechanism.
