Sachin Tendulkar told SHUBMAN GILL to accept bold calls and not affected by external noise before his first match as an Indian captain. Gill becomes 37. Indian Captain of the Test when he takes over Rohit Sharmawho left in front of England Tour. A 25 -year -old man is also Fifth Youngest Indian Test Captain in History.
When he talked to Cricbuzz, Tendulkar said that Gill should be brave enough to make big calls, and don’t worry about what others say if the decision is taken in the best team’s interest. The Indian legend said people would have many opinions on his captain and should not take care of them and support the calls that will make it.
“My advice would be to take these courageous decisions for him and not be afraid of the outside world as long as the decision was taken in the interest of the team,” Tendulkar said.
“Because people will have opinions and people will say that it is too attack or too defensive, or it is not happening, it is not happening. It should do what is in the interest of the team and anything is discussed in the dressing room.
“So it depends on anything else, and that’s what would be my advice for him – don’t worry about the outside world. The dressing and any decisions that take the interest of the team are important – and support it.”
“No sense of comparing my stint and gill’s”
Tendulkar himself became an Indian captain aged 23 and 169 days in 1996, but the Indian legend refused to draw parallels between him and Gill. Tendulkar said that both are a completely different era and the important thing is to deal with what is happening in the Indian cricket at the moment.
“(They are) different era, so there is no point in comparing this era to what happened in the Indian cricket and what is happening now. We have to deal with what is happening now and do it,” Tendulkar said.
India and England will lock the corners in Headingley since Friday, June 20.
