PMK leader Anbumani Ramadoss on Sunday urged the state government not to relocate the primary health center (PHC) at Kaduvetti in Thiruverkadu near Chennai, which has been functioning for more than 60 years.
In his statement, he said that the PHC, established as a maternity center in 1967, served more than 20 villages in the surrounding areas and benefited many people.
“The state government has decided to shift the PHC to Puliyambedu in Noombal. It is unacceptable to deny people access to the primary health center in the name of improving it,” he said. “The present PHC is located on the Avadi-Poonamallee Highway, which provides easy access to people living in villages. The alternative site is 7 km away,” added Dr. Anbuman.
