Governor Illinois JB Pritzker on Monday, August 25, warned the President of the United States Donald Trump against the mission of soldiers to Chicago after the latter indicated that the city was a “mess” and could be similar to what he did in Washington, DC.
When JB Pritzker focused on a press conference, he pushed back against Donald Trump’s plan to miss military troops to Chicago to “fight crime” and warn the US president and said, “Don’t come to Chicago.”
Pritzker said that although no one contacted the state about the possible deployment of military units in Chicago, they were focused on who they represent, and “bypass our democracy, militarize our cities and end elections”.
Later, in his contribution to his social media, Pritzker said “things people asking for”, which included cheaper food, no cuts for Medicaid or food aid for low -income families, and the release of federals held on Jeffrey Epstein, convicted sex merchant and Donald Trump.
About what it does not meet, Pritzker continued, is the “authoritarian power of grading the capital cities”.
Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson said his office did not receive formal communication from Trump’s administration on military or federal deployment to enforce the right in Chicago, but said, “We have serious concern for the impact of any unlawful commitment of National Guard soldiers.”
Brandon Johnson also said that the approach of Donald Trump was “uncoordinated, unbelievable and unhealthy”, claiming that “it has the potential to ignite the tensions between residents and enforcement”.
Lisa Hernandez, chairwoman of the Democratic Party Illinois, called Trump’s comments “offensive and false” and said, “Chicagoans does not give up”.
What did Trump say about Chicago?
Pushing from the leaders of Illinois and local leaders in Chicago came after Donald Trump described as “mess” and that people “screamed” to place the US administration units into the city.
“I think Chicago will be our next,” Trump told reporters in the White House and later added, “And then we will help with New York.”
“We will make our cities very, very safe. Chicago is a mess. You have an incompetent mayor, grossly incompetent, and straighten it, probably another, it will be our next and it will not be difficult,” he said.
There is no time to deploy soldiers in Chicago, but reports say it could be in September.
When Trump asked when the units could be deployed, Donald Trump said, “They need help. We can wait. We can or may not, we can just do it and do what is probably what we should do.”
