US President Trump has reiterated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has confirmed that India will not engage in trade with Russian oil. He warned that if India claimed otherwise, it would face heavy tariffs.
“I spoke to Indian Prime Minister Modi and he said he will not do things with Russian oil,” Reuters quoted Trump as speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One.
Asked about the Indian government, which said it was not aware of any conversation between Prime Minister Modi and Trump, the US president said: “But if they want to say that, then they’re just going to continue to pay massive tariffs, and they don’t want that.”
