US President Donald Trump promised on Monday that military strikes against Yemen’s houthi would persist until they were threatened for transport. In a strong warning for Houthis and their Iranian supporters Trump said that “real pain” must come if the attacks on us and allied vessels continue.
“We just started”
Trump clarified his attitude in a statement about social truth and stressed that the military action would not stop until Houthis stops his hostility.
“The choice for Houthis is clear: stop shooting on American ships and we will stop shooting at you. Otherwise we have just started and real pain still has to come, for Houthis and their sponsors in Iran,” he warned.
The President claimed that the US forces had significantly weakened Houthis through permanent air strikes from March 15.
“Terrorists with Houthi supported by Iran were decimated with tireless blows. We hit them every day and night-harder and harder,” Trump said.
He explained that Houthis had to decide: “Stop shooting ships and we will stop shooting at you. Otherwise, we have just started and the real pain still has to come, for Houthis and their sponsors in Iran.”
Rising tension in the Red Sea
The US and its allies launched repeated air strikes against the goals of Houthi in Yemen in response to attacks on commercial and military vessels in the Red Sea. Houthis, who control large parts of Yemen, claim that their actions support Palestinians in Gaza.
Signalgate scandal shading strikes
Trump’s remarks come when his administration struggles with a scandal that includes a leaked discussion among higher American officials about Yemeni strokes. He dubbed “Signalgate”, the discussion broke out after Atlantic Magazine revealed that its editor was mistakenly included in the chat on a signal application where the highest officials discussed timing and intelligence.
The escape included National Security Advisor Mike Waltz and Defense Minister Pete HegSeth and raised concerns about operational safety.
Despite Trump’s growing pressure, he refused controversy.
Trump escalates rhetoric against Iran
In addition to the conflict in Yemen Trump, he intensified his warnings in the middle of the ongoing nuclear negotiations.
“He will bomb it” if Iran disagrees with the agreement on his nuclear program, Trump allegedly threatened and signaled a harder American attitude.
