On Tuesday, US President Donald Trump threatened to impose extensive fines for allowing Transgender athletes to participate in girls’ sports.
“The biological man competed in the state finals in California, won a big one, although they warned me not to do so. As Governor Gavin NewScum fully understands, big fines will be imposed !!!,” Trump said in a trip on Truth Social.
Trump’s remark came after the 16-year-old Transgender Student-sports AB Hernandez won gold in both girls jumps and a triple jump to the state championships at the weekend.
AB Hernandez competed under the new change of the rule, which may be the first of its kind at the national level of high school sports management body.
California is currently allowing students to participate in sports that are in line with their gender identity.
Hernandez completed a high jump with a brand of 5 feet, 7 inches (1.7 meters), without unsuccessful attempts. The common winners of Jillene Wettland and Leleni Laruelle also cleaned this height after each record of an unsuccessful attempt.
Last week, Trump threatened to retain federal financing from California and accuses Governor Gavin Newsom of not keeping the executive order that would prevent Transgender from competing in women’s sports.
Meanwhile, the US Ministry of Justice is pushing the Public Sports Office for High School Sports to leave a policy that allows Transgender’s girls to compete for female teams, after the first victories of Transgender athletes on the state lines and field championships.
This policy violates the clause on the same protection of the Constitution “It prepares girls athletic opportunities and benefits based solely on their biological sex,” civil rights division said in a letter to the California Intescholastic Federation (CIF).
The letter signed by the assistant of the General Prosecutor Harmeet Dhillon gave the organization until June 9 to confirm that it no longer enforced this rule.
Governor Gavin Newsom, Democrat, said earlier that he thinks that the participation of transgender athletes in girls’ sports is “deeply unfair”. His office described the revised CIF approach as “a reasonable, respecting way to navigate a complex problem without endangering competing justice”.
