We are deploying every resource to get her mother home safely,” Trump added. “We are deploying all resources to get her mother home safely,” Trump wrote, adding, “GOD BLESS AND PROTECT NANCY!”
2. On Wednesday, popular morning news anchor Savannah Guthrie shared a video message urging anyone holding her missing elderly mother, believed to have been abducted from her home in Arizona earlier this week, to get in touch.
3. “We need to know without a doubt that she is alive and that you have her. We want to hear from you and we are ready to listen. Please contact us,” the NBC “Today” co-host said in a video message posted on Instagram.
4. On Wednesday, Guthrie issued a public message to her 84-year-old mother’s captor, saying her family was willing to communicate but wanted proof she was alive. The emotional call came three days after Nancy Guthrie, 84, was reported missing from her home on the outskirts of Tucson by family members in what investigators said was a kidnapping, Reuters reported.
5. Appearing on video alongside her brother and sister, Savannah Guthrie, 54, said the family had seen media reports about the ransom but were cautious, noting that digital images could easily be altered or faked. Her mother was last seen on January 31 when relatives dropped her off at home after dinner and was reported missing the next day, Reuters reported.
6. Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said the elder Guthrie had limited mobility and was unable to leave her home on her own, and that investigators are treating her disappearance as a kidnapping.
7. Other concerns for Nancy Guthrie’s welfare included that her health was dependent on daily medication. “Her health, her heart is fragile. She lives in constant pain. She has no medicine. She needs it to survive. She needs it not to suffer,” Savannah Guthrie said during the four-minute video, according to Reuters.
8. The television journalist, co-founder of Today since 2012, began Wednesday’s Instagram message by thanking supporters for their outpouring of prayers. “We feel them and we still believe she feels them too. Our mom is a kind, loyal, loyal, fiercely loving woman of good and light. She’s funny and brave and smart. She has grandchildren who adore her and the crowd around her and showering her with kisses. She loves fun and adventure. She’s a devoted friend and you see and know her.”
9. In an update on the case issued earlier in the day, the sheriff said investigators have not yet identified any suspects or persons of interest in connection with the alleged kidnapping. A press conference is scheduled for Thursday.
10. Nanos said investigators were aware of reports that some media had received what appeared to be a ransom, but did not say whether they were treated as credible.
