
US President Donald Trump said on Friday that he nominated one of his closest helpers Sergio Gora for another American ambassador to India.
Sergio Gor, who is currently the director of the White House Presidential Office, would also serve as a special envoy to South and Central Asian affairs.
“I am pleased to announce that I promote Sergio Gor to be our next Ambassador of the United States in the Republic of India and a special envoy to South and Central Asian affairs,” Trump said in a Truth Social.

The US President said Gor would remain in his current position until he was confirmed for the Indian Senate.
“Sergio is a great friend who has been on my side for many years. He has worked on my historical presidential campaigns, has published my best -selling books and ran one of the largest Super Pac that supported our movement,” Trump said, praising Gor’s work in hiring staff for his second term.
“For the most populous region in the world, it is important that I have someone I can fully trust to give my agenda and help us to make America great again,” Trump wrote.

Gor, in the X post, thanked Trump for the nomination and said that it would be “honor of my life” to represent the United States in a new role.
Trump’s announcement of GOR nomination came shortly after the sudden cancellation of the planned visit to the US trade negotiators to Nový Dilli from 25 to 29 August.
Who is Sergio Gor?
Trump’s loyalist Sergio Gor has played a decisive role in deciding who does and gets a job in the current administration.

Trump’s announcement came to the decisive period for relations between the US and India, which seems to have deteriorated the planned doubling of US tariffs to goods from India next week.
