US President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday (July 2) that he had concluded a new trade agreement with Vietnam and claims that the Socialist Republic would provide an “unprecedented” approach of US company to the Vietnam market.
“It is my great honor to announce that I have just concluded a trade agreement with the Vietnamese Republic after an interview with Lam, a highly respected Secretary General of the Vietnamese Communist Party,” Trump wrote about the truth of social.
Tariffs and market access
According to Trump, according to the terms of the Vietnam agreement, he agreed to pay 20% tariff for “any and all goods” that exports to the United States, and 40% tariff to any goods transported via Vietnam.
“In return,” Trump said, “Vietnam will do something they have never done before – get the overall access to the United States to their market markets.”
Zero tariffs to American exports
He added, “In other words,” open their markets to the United States, which means we can sell our product to Vietnam at zero rate. “
Stressed the automotive industry
Trump has selected American car manufacturers as a probable recipient of the agreement, especially large vehicles manufacturers.
“I think SUVs or, as is ever mentioned, a large motor vehicle that so well in the United States will be a great addition to different product lines in Vietnam,” he said.
Praise for Vietnamese leader
Trump also emphasized his personal relationship with the supreme official Vietnam. “Negotiations with the Secretary General Lam, which I personally did was an absolute pleasure,” he wrote.
Trump’s mutual tariff pause is approaching
In April, Trump introduced 46% of Vietnam import tax on its “mutual tariffs”, focused on many countries where the US operates trade deficits. For 90 days he quickly built tariffs to allow time to negotiate, including interviews with Vietnam. This pause will be set on Tuesday (July 8).
So far, Trump’s administration has completed a business agreement with the United Kingdom and at the same time arranged an agreement on “framework” with China in a separate business conflict.
