“The US not only a” broker “ceasefire between India and Pakistan turned off a” nuclear conflict “,” said US President Donald Trump in his latest demands, adding that there is a risk that he would stop trading with both countries unless the end of hostility agreed.
Comments, the first statement made by the US President personally in the White House in the field of development was refuted by government sources that stated that there was no “reference to trade” during interviews between India and American officials last week.
“I said (to Indian and Pakistani leadership), stop it. If you stop it, we trade. If you don’t stop it, we won’t do any business,” Mr. Trump told reporters at the White House on Monday (May 12, 2025) by repeating some of the claims he made in social media during the weekend. He added that the US is currently “negotiating with India” and for the first time publishing that the US planned to start negotiations on trade in Pakistan.
However, government resources denied the claims. The sources said after the opening of the Sindoor 7 Operation, the US Vice President spoke to Prime Minister Narendra Modi 9. “There was no link to the store in any of these discussions.”
Mr. Trump also said that American officials “stopped a nuclear conflict” between India and Pakistan. “I think it could be a bad nuclear war. Millions of people could be killed, so I’m very proud of it,” the US president said in his comments.
The controversial statement is likely to be made by opposition deputies at the next meeting of the Parliamentary Committee for External Affairs, which are expected next Monday (May 12, 2025), when Foreign Minister Vikram Misri is expected to inform about the development between India and Pakistan.
It is not clear whether Mr. Trump’s reference to a possible nuclear conflict was associated with extensive speculation on the impact of Indian air strikes on May 10 at the Pakistani Air Force bases on a suspicious nuclear place in the area called Kirana Hills near the Mushaf base of PAF in Sargodha. Asked about news, Air Marshal Ak Bharti said they didn’t know Indian forces about the site. “We did not have Kirana Hills, whatever there,” he added. However, the government has not yet clarified the record of other claims of Mr. Trump, including the claim for mediation.
As Hind reported, several former diplomats criticized Mr. Trump’s comments in two social media contributions on the US role in India-Pakistan and stated that they violate Indian principles against mediation of third parties, connecting part with Pakistan or internationalization of internal questions.
On Monday (May 12, 2025), a number of opposition leaders also called on the government to clarify its position in the US.
“By silent on these claims, PM failed to assure people against American or third intervention in bilateral affairs concerning India and Pakistan,” said Dipankar Bhattacharya CPM, calling for “urgent session of parliament” to discuss this matter.
