From October 1, the United States will store 100% tariff on imports of branded or patented pharmaceutical products, if the company builds a production plant in the US, President Donald Trump said on Thursday.
“From October 1, 2025, we will store 100% tariff on any branded or patented pharmaceutical product if the company builds its pharmaceutical production plant in America. If construction is started, there will be no tariff on these pharmaceutical products.
Trump said in truth that pharmaceutical tariffs do not apply to companies that build manufacturing plants in the United States, which he defined as “breaking” or “under construction”. It remains unclear, as tariffs apply to companies that already have factories in the US.
In 2024, America imported nearly $ 233 billion of pharmaceutical and medicinal products according to the Census Office. The prospect of doubling prices for some medicinal products could broadcast shock waves through voters, as health care expenses, including Medicare and Medicaid costs, may increase significantly.

Trump deposits 25% of the heavy truck tariff, 50% on kitchen cabinets
Donald Trump’s announcement was part of a wider deck of tariffs focused on industry next week. In addition to drugs, the United States will also save fees for heavy trucks, upholstered furniture, kitchen cabinets and bathroom futility.
While the head of the US commander did not provide any legal justification of tariffs, he said that it should protect the industry from “national security and other reasons”.

“To protect our large heavy truck manufacturers from unfair competition, I will store 25% of the” heavy (large!) Truck “manufactured in other parts of the world from 1 October 2025,” Trump said in a social truth.
He said that US “large manufacturers of large trucks”, such as Peterbilt, Kenworth, Freightliner, Mack Trucks and others, will be “protected from the onslaught of external interruption”.
“We need our truckers to be financially healthy and strong, for many reasons, but above all for national security purposes,” Trump said.
He also announced the sweeping of tariffs on various household products, including imported kitchen cabinets and certain types of furniture – potentially adding even more costs to the category that has increased in the price in recent months.
“We store 50 % tariff on all kitchen cabinets, bathroom futility and related products, starting on October 1, 2025. In addition, we will charge 30 % of the upholstered furniture tariff,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
The US President accused the “flood” of these products by other companies as a reason to store tariffs.
“It is a very unfair practice, but we must protect our production process for national security and other reasons,” he said.
The new cabinet tariffs could further increase the costs of house buildings at a time when many people trying to buy a house feel the price of a mixture of lack of housing and high mortgage rates.

Trump has long claimed that tariffs are the key to forcing companies to invest more in domestic factories. He rejected the concerns that importers would simply hand over most of the costs of taxes to consumers and businesses in the form of higher prices.
