The incumbent BJP-led North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) won 102 of the 126 seats, more than four-fifths of the Assembly, taking Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s coalition to a third consecutive term with a better result than 2021 (Table 1). The Congress-led multiparty alliance, Asom Sonmilito Morcha (ASM), was reduced to 21 seats, while the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) and Trinamool Congress won two and one seat respectively.
NEDA secured 48.02% of the vote, a gain of 3.51 points over 2021, while ASM’s vote share fell by 7.87 points to 35.65%. The BJP alone won 82 of the 90 seats it contested with a 54.84% seat share, a sharp increase of 9.13 points. The Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) won 10 of the 11 contested seats with 50.76% vote share, an increase of 13.03 points. However, the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) saw its contested seat share decline by 6.49 points to 26.42%, though it added one seat to finish 10th.
