Congressman Brad Sherman said on Friday that he had met former Pakistani Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Pakistanian Ambassador Sheikh and the leadership of foreign affairs for “sincere conversation on regional tensions after the last month in India-Pakistan’s conflict, democracy in Pakistan and counter-terrorism in the region”.
In a series of contributions on X Sherman, he said “he emphasized the Pakistan delegation the importance of fighting terrorism, and especially the Jaish-E-Mohammed group, who murdered my component Daniel Pearl in 2002”.
“The Pearl’s family continues to live in my district, and Pakistan should do everything possible to remove this nasty group and fight terrorism in the region,” Sherman said.
Terrorist Omar Saeed Sheikh was convicted of the organization and murder of reporter Wall Street Journal of 2002 Daniel Pearl.
He added that “water rights” along the Indus River were the main point of the discussion during the meeting. He said, “India should not take any unfavorable steps to Pakistan to limit Indus” and that “China should not take any unfavorable steps to India to limit the water in the region”.
He said, “In Pakistan, the water must flow through the pandjab and Sindh must remain accessible to millions of Pakistani who rely on Indus to survive.”
Sherman also said that the protection of religious minorities in Pakistan remains an important question. “Christians, Hinda and Ahmadiyya Muslims living in Pakistan must be allowed to practice their faith and participate in a democratic system without fear of violence, persecution, discrimination or unequal court system,” he said.
The Pakistani delegation led by Bhutto met with Congressman Brad Sherman in Washington on Thursday and timed her visit to the American capital at about the same time as the Indian Parliament delegation with more parties led by the Shashi Tharoor Congress is in Washington DC.
