Doctors in the SHRI Hospital, Guntur, successfully treated a 72 -year -old woman from a Bapatla suffering chronic, more resistant bone medicine and joint infection. The patient fought with Acinetobacter Baumannii for six months – resistant to all available antibiotics – before it was admitted in a critical condition in January.
In cooperation with prof. Gopal Gopal of Banaras Hindu University, led by dr. K. Kalyan Chakravarthy, in cooperation with prof. Gopal dr. Drovaja Y. and anesthetist who target bacteria that target bacteria that did not form the target bacteria in the past six months in cooperation with bacteriophage therapy over the course of six months. Once common before antibiotics, phage therapy gains attention with increasing antimicrobial resistance. Bacteriophages are properly purified, are considered safe and used worldwide within the protocols of “compassionate uses” for stubborn infections. Clinical studies are underway in the UK, US and Europe.
