The Health Reforms Doctors Association (HRDA) has urged the Telangana government to prioritize and complete the recruitment of Assistant Professors under the Directorate of Medical Education (DME) before proceeding with the appointment of Civilian Assistant Surgeon (Specialist) posts under the Telangana Vaidya Vidhana Parishad (TVVP).
HRDA argued that completing the Assistant Professor recruitment first would bring clarity to the process as candidates who secure Assistant Professor positions would opt for DME roles, while professional vacancies would then be clearly available for the remaining eligible candidates.
According to the association, this sorting would avoid confusion, double opt-in, more connection problems and avoidable administrative complications. “Prioritizing the recruitment of assistant professor would immediately address the persistent shortage of teachers in government medical colleges across Telangana,” it said.
