Telugu, as a compulsory entity in classes up to 10 in all schools of CBSE, ICSE, IB and other council in 2025-26, as the political direction of the TELANGANY government, must be re-evaluated, students of Netelugu and their parents said on Saturday (April 5).
Students took part in the protest in Dharna Chowk and exhibited their hand -drawn posters and their parents held the labels to express their concerns. According to parents, children should have freedom to learn a language of their choice and should not be forced to learn a specific language. This may not be beneficial for their academic and professional future.
Another parent claimed that the storage supported by policy undermines the variety of languages and is against the spirit of inclusivity.
The student of Class 9 said she had never studied Teluga at school, so it would not be possible to appear at the Teluga test at the level of the Board of Directors. She was afraid that her entire result would be influenced on board.
“What will my child learn as a second language if we move to another state after some time? He is ready to learn Teluga, but as a third language,” one parent said.
Collection – grades, parents and representatives of different schools – give policy, be flexible in order to choose a second language that is in line with their needs, interests and future aspirations.
“The language should be a tool for strengthening position, not a source of division,” they said. They demanded that the government reconsider policy and allow students to select a second language based on their needs and interest.
