Divijayawada handled 40.64 million tonnes of cargo in 2025-26 and earned ₹4,136 crore

South Coast Railway (SCoR), Vijayawada division, has asked freight customers to submit new proposals so that Indian Railways can focus on strengthening industrial partnership, developing infrastructure facilities and using digital technology.

Speaking at a business development meeting with freight customers, Divisional Railway Director (DRM) Mohit Sonakiya said that Vijayawada division plays a vital role in freight transport in SCoR.

The division transports coal, fertilizers, cement, food grains, iron ore, aluminum powder and laterite through 24 private sidings and terminals and 29 cargo sheds.

“During the financial year 2025-26, the Vijayawada division has loaded more than 40.64 million tonnes of goods, generating freight revenue of around ₹ 4,136 crore. Freight customers are requested to collaborate with Indian Railways by designing innovative logistics solutions and identifying untapped transport areas,” said Mr. Sonakiya.

Railway officials have asked freight customers to ensure installation of CCTV in all warehouses and terminals to enhance safety and security and to ensure digital monitoring at cargo handling points.

The meeting was attended by SCOR Chief Operating Officer Vineet Kumar, Chief Commercial Officer K. Sambasiva Rao, officers D. Satyanarayana and Chaitanya and leading freight customers.
