Dissolute RCB stars throw ice water on coach after IPL win

Royal Challengers Bengaluru players Tim David and Phil Salt went a bit overboard with their celebrations after the team won their second Indian Premier League title on Sunday (May 31). While celebrating their victory, the mischievous duo decided to dump a bucket of ice water on head coach Andy Flower.

The video of the incident went viral the next day and fans labeled David and Salt as RCB’s most unpredictable players of all time. Their childish prank on their head coach turned into one of the highlights of RCB’s celebrations.

The Rajat Patidar-led side absolutely dominated Shubman Gill’s Gujarat Titans in an encounter at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday. First, RCB restricted GT to a modest total of 155 and then chased it down with ease, thanks to a steady innings from Virat Kohli, who remained unbeaten on 75.

The team erupted into celebrations after Kohli hit the game-winning six on the final ball of the 18th over. The RCB side celebrated in style at the ground and spoke highly of the coaching staff, especially Andy Flower.

Flower joined RCB from Lucknow Super Giants in August 2023. He and his management have transformed the franchise and built one of the most advanced sides in the tournament. They trusted veteran Bhuvneshwar Kumar to partner Josh Hazlewood with the new ball and instead of investing in an elite spinner, they backed Krunal Pandya to develop into one of the most innovative spinners in the league.

As a result, RCB dominated both the 2025 and 2026 league stages before carrying that momentum into the playoffs to secure the title.

IT’S NOT ALL ROSE FOR TIM DAVID

While he may have been in a jubilant mood after the match ended, the Australian finisher was punished for his in-game antics in the IPL final.

This means Tim David will miss Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s IPL 2027 opener after he was handed a one-match ban for throwing an ice bag towards umpire Nitin Menon during the IPL 2026 final against Gujarat Titans.
