The Air India flight to London crashed into a residential area in Ahmedabad shortly after take -off on Thursday, exploded into a huge fiery ball and killed everyone on board, with the exception of one. Miraculously survived one passenger from the plane. Among the victims were students of medicine staying in a hostel at a university affected by aircraft.
Let Air India 171 – Boeing 787 Dreamliner – released Mayday call and crashed immediately after take -off. The data show that the last recorded altitude of the aircraft was 625 feet from the ground immediately after take -off. He flew only 2 km more.
In particular, this is the first time that the 787 Dreamliner crashed, and Boeing collects more details to see if there is technical errors. The latest news shows that investigators have renewed the Black Box recorder and will soon appear an accurate reason for the accident.
The key question is: How did the plane crash only a few minutes after take -off? The analysis of past take -off accidents points to several causes: tool disorders or warning system; precipitation with debris or obstacles near the track; Structural disintegrations for flight; improper use of helm or control surfaces; Skipped checklist lists, including Flap and Slat settings; and tire damage caused by track residues.
Here’s a low number:
1. Air India Flight AI 855
Date: January 1, 1978
Source: Mumbai
Objective: Dubai
Company: Air India
Let: Boeing 747
Flight time: one minute
Persons: 190 passengers + 23 crews (all died)
Cause: Flight AI 855 plunged into the sea near the airport, off the coast of Bandra, within 3 km from the flying distance at night due to the captain’s disorientation soon after the tool failure, killed all 190 passengers and 23 crew members on board. The flight went to Dubai.
According to the investigation report, the aircraft turned after one minute of take -off after crossing the coast and soon after it turned left and never got a level. He lost altitude and then born into the sea.
2 years of Indian Airlines Flight 491
Parts of the nose and tail of the Indian airlines Boeing 737, which crashed minutes after take -off from Aurangabad
Date: April 26, 1993
Source: Aurangabad
Destination: Hopping Flight on the Delhi-Jaipur-Oudaipur-Aurangabad-Bombay route
Company: Indian Airlines
Let: Boeing 737
Flight time: within a few minutes of take -off
Persons: 118 passengers + 6 crews (55 died)
Cause: The aircraft carrying 118 people took off from Aurangabad, but shortly after takeoff crashed and killed 55 passengers. The aircraft rose at the end of the runway, but hit a truck with a pressed cotton package that passed the highway approximately 410 feet from the end of the track.
The impact – in the height of about seven feet – was questioned by the left main landing equipment of the aircraft, dressing engine and reverse reverse. A moment later, the plane collided with a high power lead almost three kilometers northeast of the track and crashed into the ground. The plane absorbed the fire after impact, which led to its complete destruction.
3. Let British Oversteas Airways Corporation (Boac) Flight 783
Date: May 2, 1953
Source: Calcutta
Objective: Delhi
Let: Comet aircraft
Company: British Oversteas Airways Corporation (Boac)
Flight time: six minutes after take -off
Persons: 43 passengers and crew members (all died)
Cause: Flight 783 Boac crashed shortly after taking off from Calcutta on the way to Delhi and killed all 43 passengers and crews. The aircraft met heavy rain and thunderstorms and fell apart in the air only six minutes after taking off at 7,500 feet.
Investigators attributed an accident to a structural failure caused either by extreme turbulence or by excessive control of the pilot while passing storms. The accident meant the first of a series of structural disintegrations concerning the Kometa aircraft.

Date: November 12, 2001
Source: New York JFK
Objective: Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic
Company: American Airlines
Let: Airbus
Time: minutes after take -off, before climbing
Persons: 251 passengers + 9 crews (all died)
Cause: The accident occurred because the tail fins of the aircraft set out in the air. This was due to the fact that the first officer pushed the foot pedals that move the helmsman too hard and too often – the creation of the tail emphasis was not built to handle. The way the rudder system works, plus some of the advanced maneuver training used by the airline, facilitated the excessive movements of the pedal.
5th years Northwest Airlines Flight 255
Date: August 16, 1987
Source: Detroit
Objective: Phoenix
Company: Northwest Airlines
Let: McDonnell Douglas MD – 82
Flight time: seconds, crashed near the end of the track
Persons: 149 passengers + 6 crews (one child survived)
Cause: The aircraft barely rose right at the end of the track, then fluctuated to the left and hit the light pole just before its left wing, broke into multiple poles and car rental buildings, disintegrated and caught fire. It happened because the crew skipped the taxi check list and never set the flaps and splays for take -off and the warning system did not have much to alert them.
6. Flight Spanair 5022
Part of the fuselage of the Spanair beam, which crashed on take -off at Madrid Airport, is raised on Wednesday, August 20, 2008 by a crane.
Date: August 20, 2008
Origin: Madrid
Objective: Canary Islands
Let: McDonnell Douglas MD – 82
Society: Spanair
Flight time: right after the elevator
Death: 172 aboard (18 survivors)
Cause: Immediately after take -off, the pilots forgot to extend the flaps and slats, so the plane stopped and lost control. They did not use any warnings, missed the booth signs, and even retreated briefly and cut the energy briefly, which worsened things – all because they skipped the right valve/weak check list.
7. Air France Flight 4590 (Concorde)
Rescue workers stand near the debris of the hotel on which Air France Concorde crashed in Goness, outside Paris, shortly after takeoff
Date: July 25, 2000
Origin: Paris
Objective: New York
Flight: Concorde Supersonic Jet
Company: Air France
Flight time: Immediately after take -off
Person: 109 on board
Cause: Investigators found that the left main tire landing went on a metal track track and immediately fired. The debris of the tire slammed into the underside and wheel of the aircraft. The largest piece did not penetrate the wing, but caused sudden pressure in one fuel tank, blowing panels and led to a massive leakage of fuel.
8. birgenair Flight 301
Date: February 6, 1996
Origin: Puerto Plata
Objective: Frankfurt
Let: Boeing 757-200
Society: Birgenair
Flight time: five minutes after take -off
Persons: 189 aboard (all died)
Cause: Right from the beginning of the captain’s speed breakup did not work, so he relied on the first officer. After taking off, his gauge suddenly kicked and showed that the plane was accelerating, then during the climb showed that the plane was both high nose and acceleration, which triggered a “too fast” alarm.
When they thought it was wrong, they closed this warning. A moment later, warning against the warning was shaking with controls and autopilot and automatic switching. Mixed heights, speed and alarms left them confused, fragked performance and angle adjustment, lost control and crashed about five minutes after takeoff.
9. years Santa Barbara Airlines 518
Date: February 21, 2008
Origin: Merida
Objective: Caracas
Flight: Twin-TurBoprop Aircraft
Company: Airlines Santa Barbara Airlines
Flight time: shortly after takeoff crashed approximately 7 minutes and 15 seconds (435 seconds)
Persons: No survivor, all 46 aboard was killed
Cause: a controlled flight to the field due to a pilot navigation error in a mountain area
10. Sriwijaya Air Flight SJ182 Jakarta

Date: January 9, 2021
Source: Jakarta
Objective: Pontianak
Let: Boeing 737-500
Company: Sriwijaya Air
Flight time: four minutes after take -off
Persons: 62 aboard (all died)
Cause: During the climb, one engine remained in energy, while the other was limited, so the plane pulled hard to the left. The defective spoiler sensor hid the imbalance and when the autopilot started the plane more than 45 ° to the left. Pilots trust the autopilot and do not take into account odd behavior, they did not catch or repair it in time.
11th years of Delta Air Lines 1141
Date: August 31, 1988
Origin: Dallas/Fort Worth
Objective: Salt Lake City
Company: Delta Air Lines
Let: Boeing 727-200
Time Airborne: Seconds, crashed near the track
Death: 14 out of 108 aboard; 76 injured
Cause: The NTSB report found that the aircraft could only try to take off without flaps or slats that were extended to take -off configuration. The captain withdrew back to the control column to keep the nose raised, but it created turbulence over the engines and causes compressor growth.
The aircraft failed to obtain speed due to the towing caused by a high angle of attack. On the CRV, the flight crew said the flaps were deployed, but no sound sound was recorded, so they seemed to be unable to deploy flaps and slats.
The aircraft warning system failed to alert them to the problem, as the switch has been modified to avoid activation in a taxi.
