On Monday (April 7), a direct metro service with a direct water subway between Eloor and High Court was launched.
This step monitors long -term demand for direct service from Eloor to the heart of the city. There will be four trips – two in the morning and two in the evening – for commuting between Eloor and the city.
Previously, they had to take the ship from Eloor to South Chittoor before they got on the next ferry from there to the city. Metro Kochi of Water currently operates 18 ships with the use of another ship for this new service has increased the total number to 19.
Currently, the High Court – Port Kochi is available to the water metro services, as well as on the Zaven, Eloor, South Chittoor, Cheranellore and along the route – Kakkanad, which has gained great popularity because Kakkanad is at the core of the IT industrial center in Kochi.
Kochi became the first city in the country, which in 2021 had such a facility after the start of the services of the Water Metro metro. The growing number of services helped increase the popularity of water metro among residents and visitors, while several other countries have shown interest in the replication of the model.
