Actor Dileep, who was acquitted in the actor-rape case, sought an inquiry into what he called a conspiracy to implicate him in the case and mislead the government that he was a conspirator in the case.
Speaking to The Hindu hours after his acquittal, Mr Dileep claimed that he was the real victim in the case “which was framed by a group of police personnel for their personal gains and popularity”.
Mr. Dileep claimed that he never had any issues with the survivor in the case.
“I always had a very cordial and friendly relationship with her. We never had any problems between us. During the first four months of the investigation of the case, she did not even mention me in the case. However, she made some references about me to the investigators, which I believe were made at the insistence of the members of the Special Investigation Team (SIT),” he said.

“The SIT, which conspired to implicate me in the case, even misled the government and made them believe that I was the mastermind of the crime. Even the Chief Minister, who declared that there was no conspiracy in the case after the arrest of the first six accused, was misled by a handful of team officers. The government should investigate these matters,” he demanded.
The actor alleged that some officials in the team were harassing him for their personal and professional gains. “They spread rumors about me and my family members. The team even registered a case against a Malayalam actor for posting on social media in my favour. They also tried to implicate my lawyers who were defending me in the case, hoping that they can stop me from fighting the case legally,” Mr Dileep said.
“Everyone in SIT wanted fame and glory at the expense of my life. They tried to isolate me and my family members socially. They planted stories in the media to defame me and created a hostile social environment against me. They tried to drive away the family audience of my films. The team members thought they could cash in on my social status and popularity as an actor,” he said.
Mr. Dileep said that the SIT chief questioned him for barely an hour and a half one day. “Yet they planted stories in the media that I was grilled for 13 hours straight. Most of the SIT members had informal conversations with me during the said interrogation period,” he said.
The actor said he is considering legal action against those who conspired to “falsely implicate” him in the case and ruin his life and career. A decision will be taken after receiving the verdict of the court, he said.
Mr. Dileep said he has yet to apply for membership of the Malayalam Film Artistes Association, of which he was once a member. “Let the organization decide with regard to my acquittal in the case,” he added.
