A Reddit post praising the swift and efficient response of Bengaluru police has hit the internet, offering a counter to frequent complaints about emergency services in India’s tech capital.
A post shared on a subreddit dedicated to Bengaluru details two recent incidents to which the city’s 112 emergency line responded immediately — despite the caller not being fluent in Kannada. The user said he had avoided calling 112 for years after hearing reports of non-native speakers getting little help, but their recent experience proved otherwise.
In the first incident, a user described witnessing a late-night road accident near Indiranagar after returning from a cinema. A man riding a scooter crashed into a car and was found unconscious at a traffic light. While bystanders gathered to help, no one called for medical help.

The user dialed 112 to report the accident and request an ambulance. According to the post, the operator quickly logged the complaint and sent help. The caller also received an SMS with a tracking link to track the response. Shortly thereafter, both police and emergency personnel contacted the caller to confirm the exact location.
While police said they were on their way, ambulance staff advised the injured man to be taken to hospital immediately to save time. By then, the victim had regained consciousness but appeared intoxicated and refused medical treatment for fear of a DUI charge. The police eventually arrived, documented the scene and took possession of the matter.
The second incident occurred just a few days later – and was much less dramatic but just as frustrating. A user complained of noisy construction work continuing until 3am in a neighboring business park, with machinery making sharp, screeching noises that made it impossible to sleep.

After calling 112, the request was forwarded to the local police station. Officers called back to understand the problem and reportedly arrived at the scene within 15 minutes. Construction work was halted and police later called again to confirm the noise had stopped.
“Sleep may be gone, but my appreciation for the police certainly isn’t,” the user concluded.
The post has since garnered widespread attention, with many users sharing similar experiences and praising the Bengaluru police for their responsiveness and professionalism.
One user wrote: “Nice to know. I’m pleasantly surprised they took the noise complaint seriously too.”

Another user wrote: “Thanks for posting, amidst the sea of negative posts, the positive stories keep us hopeful and motivate us to post too!”
“Also had some nice experiences. Some drunk hooligans were busy yelling in the street around 3am. Luckily the cops showed up in about 15 minutes and cleaned the place up. I didn’t expect them to react either,” wrote a third user.
