Did Rohit Sharma get angry? Shubman Gill deals with the grueling drama in Dharamshala
When Shubman Gill blundered horribly with Rohit Sharma, seeing the former Indian captain run out against Afghanistan would have felt like dj vu. It was in 2024 during a T20I game in Mohali that a similar situation took place between the two men.
Rohit was the captain at the time and was run out for a duck against the same opponents with Gill at the other end. That’s when Rohit lost it on the field and shouted at Gill as he walked to the pavilion. This time in which was the turning point of the game for the Indian openerRohit was dropped after a mix-up with Gill but quietly returned to the dugout. This time, however, there was no explosion in the dressing room.
Gill said at the post-match presentation that Rohit had no problem with what happened.
“He saw the footage, he said it was fine. Even in the last match we played against Afghanistan, the T20s, he got out there too,” Gill said.
GILL ON HIS STUNNING CATCH
Gill helped India secure victory against Afghanistan with 84 runsbut it was his a stunning catch in the slides that grabbed all the headlines. When asked if it came through training, the Indian skipper said he had been preparing for such a moment as he had no exemplary fielding efforts in his career.
“No, I’ve definitely been catching the ball, I’ve been training a lot, I’ve been catching a lot of slips and even, you know, I was talking to a friend before the game, he was saying that I haven’t really caught like a really brilliant one-handed catch in my international career so far and I’m very happy to have caught it,” Gill said.
Both the teams will now head to Lucknow as they face each other in the second ODI on Wednesday, June 17.
