Did MS Dhoni play too much in IPL 2025? Sunil Gavascar weighs

Former Indian dough Sunil Gavascar shared his thoughts on whether Mrs. Dhoni may have extended her Indian Premier League (IPL) career by one season too much. The legendary goalkeeper, who turns 44 years old this July, performed in his 18th season IPL in 2025.

Dhoni returned to Captain Chennai Super Kings (CSK) after Routuraj Gaikwad was pushed in the middle of the tournament. But he could not inspire a turnover CSK failed to qualify for play -off. This meant the first time the franchise performed in the league scene in consecutive seasons.

When he spoke of Dhoni’s decision -making, Gavascar stressed that Dhoni faced franchise over personal gain.

“Every player decides so much for himself, but whatever the MSD has made to play this season, it would only be based on what is best for CSK,” Gavascar said in an exclusive cottage today.

“Any future decisions he takes will also depend on what is good for CSK – not necessarily what is good for himself.”

“Focus more on the pitching”

Gavascar also offered aimed advice on how Super Kings could bounce in the next issue of the T20 league. The first dough, which received 10,000 runs in the test cricket, Gavascar emphasized the importance of improvement of the CSK auction approach – partly with a sharper focus on bowling talent.

According to Gavascar, CSK should prefer pitch -offs over dough during the auction. He warned against heavy relying on dough, who shine in local leagues for less reasons, and noted that such performances often do not translate against high -quality international bowling attacks.

“First of all, they must have the right auction strategy. I’m not too sure that their scout team is as effective as other franchises.

“Many players who dominate these leagues with great affecting often fail to face bowling of international quality. So, if you are looking for talent, concentrate more on the pitch.

Super Kings will play for Pride when on Saturday 3rd May at the M Chinnaswamy stadium face Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) Rajat Patidar.
