Whether it was planned or not, the recent shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner (WHCD) shocked people around the world. In the midst of this, a video of White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt appeared on the Internet that almost predicted the shooting on Saturday night. Moments before Trump and other attendees took their seats at the event, Leavitt told the audience that the president would “bring the heat” and that he would “fire up.”

The shooting erupted from the alleged shooter, who is currently being investigated in police custody, the AP reported.
The shooting took place at the prestigious Washington Hilton, where several top leaders were present, including Melania Trump, Vice President JD Vance and others. Everyone, including Trump, was evacuated by the Secret Service.
Leavitt’s remark, however, was seemingly intended as a figurative nod to the sharp political barbs and humor Trump was expected to bring the evening. Now it’s going viral for a different and much more serious reason.

What did Caroline Leavitt say?
In the now-viral video, Karoline Leavitt is seen interacting with a reporter on the red carpet. She hinted at a speech she had written for the president and made some quirky remarks.
Leavitt said, “He (Donald Trump) is ready to rumble. This speech tonight is going to be classic Donald. J. Trump. It’s going to be funny, it’s going to be fun. There’s going to be some shorts in the room tonight.”
She also asked viewers to “tune in” and “look forward” to his speech.
In response to those words, a user on X, formerly Twitter, wrote, “You put ‘Shots’ in quotes 38 minutes before dinner started…Coincidence or are you part of the problem and pre-framing the narrative?”
“What an odd choice of words,” said another.
Another responded: “Leavitt’s comments are sure to raise eyebrows in the coming days. Expect Trump to laugh it off, as we all should.”
Someone else commented, “Well, it escalated quickly.”

Meanwhile, President Donald Trump shared details of the incident at a White House press conference.
He said the gunman who opened fire acted like a “lone wolf” at the high-profile event.
“A man attacked a security checkpoint armed with multiple weapons and was shot down by some very brave members of the Secret Service,” he said, according to Bloomberg.
“He’s in custody and they’re asking him a lot of questions.
Trump earlier confirmed that Vice President JD Vance, first lady Melania Trump and members of his cabinet remained safe.
“As you know, this is not the first time in the last few years that our republic has been attacked by a would-be assassin who wanted to kill,” Trump said. “In light of tonight’s events, I am asking all Americans to recommit their hearts to peacefully resolve our differences.”
“We have to resolve our differences,” he added, according to the same news agency.
However, one officer was shot, Trump confirmed, but was saved by wearing a bulletproof vest.
“I don’t care how many people you have, how good they are. They can be the best people you have, the most surefire in history — if you have a job that has a brain, but it’s a little skewed or a lot skewed, they can cause problems,” he said.
