Mr. Pandey quoted an example of a disaster in Kedarnath in 2013 and said that many people who were announced at that time later returned to their homes.
“The efforts to identify the missing people of other states are also developing by collecting their home addresses. It is expected that the final facts of these people will be clear in a day or two,” he said.
He said that 1,308 people were rescued from various places by teams including SDRF, ITBP, Army and Police. They were mostly saved by tourists who were in Uttarkashi to visit the temples of gangotri and Yamunotri as part of Char Dham Yatra.
“The search for people buried under the wreckage is the highest priority of the government. For this purpose, we have deployed an independent officer together with the NDRF team in Dharali. IG SDF is also a camp on the spot.
The Commissioner said the distribution of ex gratia 5 lakh was launched to all those who were affected by a disaster.
“According to the announcement of the main Minister Pushkara Singh Dhami, a better package of relief and rehabilitation is preparing for disabled people. We have established the same at a high level. The committee members will soon reach Utarkashi to assess the damage caused by disaster and talk to disabled people,” he said.
Meanwhile, the machine and his driver fell in a swollen river while repairing the road near Dharali on Monday. The driver’s stay could not be found until this report was submitted. This led to the protest of construction workers in a place who were later administered.
The construction of Bailey Bridge in Limchyagad was completed on July 10.
