
Hundreds of devotees on Monday witnessed “Rathotsavam”, Chariot festival, on the eighth day of the annual Brahmotsavam in Sri Govindaraja Swamy in Tirupati.
“Rathotsavam” began at 6.15 in the temple, passed through Karnala Street, Beri and Gandhi Road streets, and returned to Ratha Mandapam of the Temple. A large number of devotees pulled Chariot singing the name Lorda Govindy.
According to priests, the human body is like a car, the soul is the owner, wisdom is the driver, the mind is reins, the senses are horses and the rest is compared to the streets. In this way, they explained the philosophy at the Chariot festival by saying that the physical body differs from the subtle body and soul.
From 10:00 to 12:00, the ceremony of Snasana Tiranjanjanam was held for UTSAV idols Sridevi, Bhudevi, Sri Govindaraja Swamy and Nammalware with milk, cottage cheese, honey, sandal wood and various fruit juices.
Pedda Jeeyar Swamy, Chinna Jeeyar Swamy, Officers from different wards Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) and a large number of devoted parts of Rathotsavam.
