Aysha Ruby, CEO of Ruby Vesture Exports and the first Indian Senator of Germany’s BWA (Federal Association for Economic Development and Foreign Trade), has called upon the next generation of designers to favor eco-friendly textile production and promote reuse.
Speaking at a fashion design workshop at Ideal Arts and Science College in Cherpulassery on Wednesday, Ms. Ruby highlighted the social and environmental responsibility of fashion.
“Fashion is not just an aesthetic matter, it carries a social and environmental responsibility,” she said, pointing to the growing global demand for ethically produced and sustainable fashion products.

The workshop was organized by the college’s women’s development cell in collaboration with the Department of Business and Management Studies. Principal Sainul Abideen Puthanazhi presided over the function.
The college awarded Ms. Ruby its Naari Udayamita Samman for her contributions to entrepreneurship and sustainable business practices. “Her work combines commercial success with social responsibility,” said Dr. Puthanazhi.
Faculty member Mohammed Unais P. delivered the keynote address. Sneha S., Santhini CN, Sreenithya C. and Lijitha OK also spoke.
