Chief Electoral Officer Archana Patnaik said on Wednesday that Deputy Election Commissioner Bhanu Prakash Yeturu and Director Krishna Kumar Tiwari of the Election Commission of India reviewed the progress of special intensive revision of electoral rolls in Chengalpattu, Chennai, Kancheepuram, Ranipet, Tiruvallur and Vellore.
The meeting was attended by the district election commissions of the respective constituencies, she said in a statement.
The Deputy Election Commissioner also conducted a field inspection of the distribution of census forms in Greater Chennai Corporation, Kancheepuram and Tiruvallur districts to ensure the smooth running of the revision process and to emphasize the importance of achieving a comprehensive and error-free voter list, the statement added.
As part of this exercise, 68,467 BLOs (cabin level officers) and 7,234 BLO supervisors have been actively deployed in the field to facilitate the distribution and collection of census forms from eligible citizens to be included in the draft electoral rolls.
