Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin on Thursday said the state has witnessed holistic development under the leadership of Chief Minister MK Stalin during the last five years and urged people to continue to support the “Dravidian Model 2.0” government to ensure implementation of more progressive schemes.
After laying the foundation stone for 1,740 guns worth ₹81 crore and launching completed projects worth ₹34 crore at Kallakurichi, Mr. Udhayanidhi said that Tamil Nadu has seen an unprecedented 11.90% GDP growth under the able administration of Mr. Stalin across the country to take the state to the top.
Apart from creating social and industrial infrastructure across the state for all-round development and introducing a number of welfare schemes, the rural economy has been stabilized by empowering self-help groups by providing them with loans of ₹1.4 million for their businesses from 2021 onwards.
Mr. Udhayanidhi said that a total of 3 million houses have been built so far under the Kalaignar Kanavu Illam program and another 8 million houses were planned by 2030. Members of women’s self-help groups were given photo ID cards for the first time, allowing goods up to 25 kg to be transported free of charge from government dispensaries and buses with a discount of over 10
The Deputy Chief Minister also distributed welfare assistance of ₹ 122.08 crore to 24,518 beneficiaries.
Kallakurichi Collector MS Prasanth, MLA Vasantham Karthikeyan and T. Udhayasuriyan were present.
