Yanthungo Patton, Deputy Chief Minister of Nagaland, expressed his concern over incidents of violence and arson in Maova village, located on the outskirts of Dimapur.

Earlier on Friday (February 13, 2026), arson and clashes were reported between Naga-Kuki villages on the outskirts of Dimapur. Police sources told The Hindu that the incident has nothing to do with the Manipur issue, it appears to be a “local problem”.

In his post on X, Mr Patton wrote: “Any act that disturbs the peace and endangers life and property is a matter of serious concern”. He also called for peace and asked people to maintain calm and restraint. He wrote: “I urge all concerned to remain calm, exercise restraint and allow lawful and constructive processes to resolve any grievances.”

In Ukhrul in neighboring Manipur, there were clashes between the Naga community and the Kuki-Zo. Internet services have been suspended in the majority-populated Naga district for five days from Tuesday (February 10, 2026).

Locals said miscreants set fire to nine to 10 houses on Tuesday (February 10, 2026) morning, escalating the ongoing tension between Kuki-Zo and Naga villagers in the Litan area, located midway between Imphal, the state capital, and Ukhrul, the district headquarters.
