Dental student killed, friend injured after car overturns on ORR

A 21-year-old dental student was killed and her boyfriend sustained serious injuries after she lost control of the vehicle she was driving, hit the median and overturned on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) near Tukkuguda in the wee hours of Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Addanki Amulya, a resident of Secunderabad and a student of MNR Dental College. Her friend Siddarth, who was traveling with her on the passenger seat, sustained injuries and is undergoing treatment at the hospital.

According to the Shamshabad police, Amulya left her residence around 1.30 am on Tuesday with Siddarth in the car. The two were traveling to Shamshabad and returning home when they allegedly lost their way and headed towards Pedda Amberpet.

Police said that after crossing the Pedda Golkonda toll gate at around 6 am, the car went out of control, hit the median on the right side of the road and overturned on the opposite road towards Shamshabad.

ORR patrol personnel alerted Amulya’s family after identifying her. She suffered severe head injuries and multiple other injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Siddarth was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Based on a complaint lodged by the victim’s father Addanki Madhusudhan, a former government employee, the Shamshabad police registered a case and started an investigation into the accident.
