
Officials of the Tirupattur district led by V. Gnan Meenakshi, a joint director of medical and rural medical services (JDHS), closed the dental clinic in Vaniyambadi 3 June 2025.
Officials of the Tirupattur district on Tuesday (June 3, 2025) closed a private dental clinic in the city of Vaniyambadi after the clinics explained to the district health authorities about its non -sterile dental practices that allegedly led to the death of eight patients who were there in May 2023.
Collector Tirupattur K. Sivasandaravalli ordered the clinic of the clinic after the district health authorities were not satisfied with the reaction that the clinic management on its announcement on the accusation. Health officials of the management of V. Gnan Meenakshi, a joint director of Tirupattur for Medical and Rural Health Services (JDHS), sealed the clinic.
The announcement was issued by the Joint Health and JDHS director on Monday and sought an explanation of the clinic to a joint study led by ICMR, which accused non -sterile dental practices of the death clinic two years ago. “They (the clinical authorities) must approach the Dental Council of Tamil Nadu to obtain permission to function. Until then, the clinic will remain closed,” said collector Sivasandaravalli Hindu.
The collector’s event comes as a result of a study conducted together by Christian Medical College in Vellore, Indian Council of Medical Research – the National Institute of Epidemiology (ICMR) and Tamil Nadu Directorate (VAT). According to the study, an non -sterile surgical tool was used to open a salt bottle at the clinic. The re -use of the bottle content led to at least 10 people to withdraw about neuromelliide – bacterial brain infection – which allegedly led to the death of eight patients treated there, the study said.
After publishing the study, a four -member medical team led by Mrs. Gnana Meenakshi inspected the facility to assess the current conditions and follow the medical procedures on May 30. The team found that the clinic had slightly changed its nomenclature and was placed a little from its previous premises. Later the team submitted a report on the status of the collector.
Meanwhile, the police superintendent Tirupattur Shreya Gupt commissioned special teams to investigate cases against the clinic with family members of the deceased patients. The probe is running.
Previously, in a press release of CMC Vellore, she said that in the years 2022-2023, patients with the brain stem syndrome in the hospital were frequently adopted. Among the 21 cases identified, 10 dental procedures underwent. The dental clinic was examined to identify the source of contamination, and the bacteria were isolated from a salt bottle for use. “The outbreak was controlled by 10 cases by active intervention of the health authorities of the district government,” the statement said.
