J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday (September 7, 2026) expressed concern over reports of mosque demolitions and attacks on minorities in the country.

“It is an unfortunate situation. The way Muslims are being treated as outsiders, like others, whether it is the demolition of mosques or the way they have been attacked, both are extremely unfortunate and should not happen,” Mr Abdullah said on the sidelines of the first Jammu and Kashmir International Film Festival in Srinagar.

In his recent meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi, Mr Abdullah said there was “continuous communication” with Mr Shah on several issues.

“Whether it is statehood or trade rules, I am in touch with the interior minister. So I have raised many issues before the interior minister,” Mr Abdullah said.
