
Kodikunil Suresh, a deputy, wrote a division railway manager, Southern Railway, and demanded a refund of “excessive parking fees” at the Thiruvananthapuram division.
He expressed concern about the alleged increase in parking fees, which, as he said, caused extensive public dissatisfaction, except that it caused great financial emphasis on everyday commuters, working class individuals and economically weaker parts.
Quotation of media reports said that the parking fee sharply increased up the two-wheelers for 50 GBP and a quad bike up to 100 GBP. In some cases, the new rates are reported to be applicable for a minimum duration of 30 minutes, which is highly disproportionate and undoubted.
“A sudden hike causes additional burden for ordinary people and can discourage citizens from using railway premises for legitimate and necessary purposes such as accompanying older passengers, schoolchildren and different individuals.
The letter further urged the authorities to immediately review and re -consider the recent increase in parking fees across stations in the Thiruvananthapuram division and ensured that the parking ticket fee is rationalized, especially for a short duration and top hours. The public’s interests are kept in mind.
FRIENDS ON RAILS, a team of railway passengers, claimed that the monthly parking pass for two wheels was increased from the previous 200 to 600 GBP. J. Liyons, Secretary of the Organization, claimed that the device did not improve with a steep increase in parking fee. “There is no roof for double -wheel in the parking stations at most railway stations. Suppliers of authorized suppliers do not guarantee any vehicle security and parking at many stations remains at risk of owners.
“Examples of vehicles, parts, and even fuels are not rare. Many passengers at the main railway stations such as Ernacula, Thriputura, Thrissur and Thiruvananthapuram are moving between stations and offices, and to move between stations and offices.
