Delivery driver arrested for aiding woman’s suicide in Gachibowli

Gachibowli police have arrested a van driver in connection with aiding the suicide of a 23-year-old woman who died in a hostel in Gachibowli.

The arrest follows a complaint lodged by Devarampally Ravi Kumar on Saturday regarding the death of his niece Molli Durga, who was staying at the Elite Co-Living Hostel.

According to the complaint, Durga was in a relationship with Sai Kumar Posti, a delivery driver, and the couple often quarreled over his alleged harassment and irresponsible behavior. Police said the two allegedly got into an argument on the night of June 5 over his consumption of alcohol.

After an argument, Durga allegedly jumped from the hostel building at around 10 pm and sustained grievous injuries. She was taken to a private hospital where doctors declared her brought dead. The complainant alleged that constant harassment by the accused made the woman take the extreme step and sought legal action against him.

After looking into the complaint and conducting a preliminary investigation, the police registered a case and arrested Sai Kumar Posti on charges of abetting suicide. The accused is brought before the court for judicial custody.

Further investigation is underway.
