Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy said that the proposed delineation exercise and a reported 50% increase in parliamentary constituencies would widen the divide between northern and southern states, rendering the latter irrelevant in the Indian political space.
Mr. Reddy said that any increase in the number of seats in the Lok Sabha must be done in a way that maintains the existing balance between northern and southern states. “If there is currently a gap in representation between the North and the South, the increase in seats should reflect the same ratio. Otherwise, it will lead to unfairness to the southern states,” he said.
