
Today’s weather in Delhi: Delhi woke up to another cold morning with dense fog at 5 degrees Celsius as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted at least two more days of cold waves over the city.
Cold wave warning for Delhi
Met Dept said cold wave to severe cold wave conditions will continue over Delhi for 2-3 days before fading away.
“Cold wave to severe A cold wave is very likely in some/many parts on the 14th and 15th and a cold wave in isolated pockets on the 16th,” the bulletin said.
On January 14, the Met Office predicted “A cold wave in a few places. Shallow to moderate fog in the morning hours.”
The IMD has predicted that the maximum and minimum temperatures over Delhi will be in the range of 19°C to 21°C and 03°C to 05°C.
“Minimum temperatures will be well below normal at many places (-3.1 to -5.0) and below normal at isolated places (-1.6 to -3.0°C) and maximum temperatures will be close to normal over Delhi,” it said.
The IMD warned of an increased likelihood of various illnesses such as flu, runny nose/stuffy nose or nosebleeds, which usually occur or worsen due to prolonged exposure to cold.
Dense fog over Delhi
Dense to very dense fog with visibility less than 50 meters is very likely in some parts of Delhi in the morning hours till January 15, according to the meteorological agency.
The IMD has also predicted dense fog, visibility 50-199 metres, in isolated pockets of the capital till January 20.
Did the fog affect flight operations?
Flight operations at the Delhi airport were reported to be normal at 8:00 am on Wednesday. Sharing updates on X, Delhi Airport said: “Low visibility procedures are underway at Delhi Airport. All flight operations are currently normal.”
IMD cold wave warning for other states
The weather agency has predicted that cold wave to severe cold wave will continue over Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Jharkhand and Odisha during the next 2-3 days and then subside.
The IMD has also predicted very dense fog over Haryana, Punjab and Chandigarh till January 15 and then dense fog till January 20.
Northwest India and Bihar will experience dense fog in the next 5-6 days.
