The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted above-normal temperatures over Delhi on Thursday as the capital prepares to welcome foreign dignitaries, including French President Emmanuel Macron, for the next day of the India AI Impact Summit 2026.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will welcome world leaders at the Bharat Mandapam today. The ceremony will begin after a “family photo” of all top officials.

Today’s weather in Delhi

According to the Meteorological Agency, skies in Delhi will remain mostly clear on Thursday with above normal maximum and minimum temperatures.

On Thursday, maximum and minimum temperatures over Delhi are likely to be in the range of 26°C to 28°C and 12°C to 14°C respectively. This is at least 1.6°C to 3.0°C above normal.

However, the capital, which has been witnessing temperatures of over 30°C for the past few days, is witnessing a temporary dip in the mercury today, thanks to a brief spell of rain in the city on Wednesday.

According to a Hindustan Times report, the maximum temperature over Delhi crossed the 30-degree mark on Monday, the first February to cross the mark in five years.

According to the IMD, 0.3 mm of rainfall was recorded in the city in the last 24 hours.

Delhi AQI “Satisfactory”

As world leaders gathered in Delhi for the AI ​​Impact Summit 2026, air quality in the capital improved to “satisfactory” levels on Thursday.

The Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 164, according to Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data.

Improved air quality levels under changing weather conditions have also prompted the lifting of GRAP II restrictions. phase in Delhi-NCR.

“Delhi’s AQI showed improvement due to favorable weather conditions and was recorded at 214 at 4 pm today. Further, the IMD/IITM forecast suggests that the AQI is likely to remain in the poor or moderate category for the coming days,” the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) said on Wednesday.

Phases I and II of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) were in effect from October 14 and October 19 last year.

India AI Impact Summit 2026: Day 4

PM Modi will address the ceremony, which will be attended by around 20 heads of state from around the world, along with policymakers, industry leaders, researchers and startup founders.

French President Emmanuel Macron, UN Secretary-General António Guterres and industry leaders from around the world will also speak at the event, according to reports.

Today, the summit will feature a star-studded line-up of global technology and industry leaders, including OpenAI’s Sam Altman and Reliance’s Mukesh Ambani.

Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates pulled out of the event hours before the scheduled keynote address. The Gates Foundation said the billionaire would not be speaking “to ensure we continue to focus on the key priorities of the AI ​​Summit”.

Ankur Vora, president of the Africa and India offices, will now represent the foundation and address the summit today.

The AI ​​Impact Summit is the fourth annual international gathering to focus on the fast-growing field, following previous summits in Paris, Seoul and Britain’s Bletchley code-breaking warfare centre.
