
Delhi will witness a chilly morning on Thursday as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issues a yellow cold weather alert. Partly clear skies with slight fog are expected in the capital.
The maximum and minimum temperatures on Thursday are likely to be in the range of 17-19 degrees Celsius and 6-8 degrees Celsius respectively, the meteorological agency predicted.
“Maximum temperatures are likely to be significantly below normal (-5.1°C to below) during the next 24 hours and markedly below normal (-3.1°C to -5.0°C) thereafter,” the IMD bulletin said.
Temperatures in Delhi are expected to remain below normal for the next three days.
Will it rain more in Delhi?
Delhi may receive light rain accompanied by gusty winds during the weekend.
In its bulletin, the Meteorological Agency has predicted a generally cloudy sky with rain accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds of 30 to 40 kmph for Delhi on February 1.
The weather is expected to improve after February 1, with the mercury rising to a minimum of 13 degrees Celsius and a maximum of 19 degrees Celsius.

Delhi-NCR saw a slight improvement in air quality on Thursday morning, with the air quality index reported at 263 in the poor category, according to the Sameer Central Pollution Control Board app.
This welcome change comes after light rains across the city in the previous days.

The Met Dept has warned from Saturday 31st January of a fresh western disturbance in the Himalayan region which is expected to bring heavy rainfall and snow in the upper reaches on Sunday 1st February.
“A fresh western disturbance is likely to affect the western Himalaya region from January 31 to February 2 with a possibility of heavy rainfall/snowfall on February 1.”
It also predicted light rainfall over northwest India and adjoining parts of central India.
“Light to moderate rainfall is also likely over the plains of northwest India and adjoining central India from January 31 to February 2,” the advisory said.
In its latest report, the meteorological agency has predicted cold wave conditions and dense fog at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana. It also predicted dense fog at isolated places over Jammu and Kashmir, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan.
The IMD has predicted thunderstorms accompanied by lighting at isolated places over Uttarakhand and East Uttar Pradesh.
