
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday said that the intense heat conditions from the north and central states will subside from April 28 and forecast thunderstorms and gusty winds for Delhi, Himachal Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.
Thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds are also likely at isolated places over Rajasthan, Punjab and Haryana.
Tuesday, April 28, signals a change in weather conditions for most of the northern states, according to the weather agency. It predicted the rain would bring some relief from the sweltering April heat, with temperatures expected to drop by 2-3C over the next few days.
“A cyclonic circulation exists over adjoining central Pakistan, northwest Rajasthan, Punjab and Haryana. It is currently strong and moving towards northeast India,” Skymet’s Mahesh Palawat told PTI. “Parts of Rajasthan and Haryana may experience rain tonight and the system is expected to reach Delhi on Tuesday and persist till April 30.”
Jammu and Kashmir is likely to witness isolated hail activity on Tuesday. Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand are likely to witness hailstorm on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, April 28, the nation’s capital is bracing for a noticeable shift – with skies expected to generally cloud over. Maximum temperatures are forecast to drop to 40 to 42 degrees Celsius. Delhi is likely to experience a spell of very light rain or drizzle accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and winds gusting up to 50 kmph.
Despite the heatwave warning, temperatures will remain noticeably above normal at most places in Delhi, with minimum temperatures ranging from 3.1°C to 5.0°C above normal and maximum temperatures ranging from 1.6°C to 3.0°C above normal.
